Suddenly, the CEO, CFO or some other member of the management team is not there any more, for whatever reason. The vacancy must immediately be filled as there are important issues which must be dealt with, and there are deadlines which must be respected. However, it often takes weeks if not months to identify a suitable candidate and wait until he can actually start in his new position.
